I spent 7 weeks injured this winter, I’ve also had a lot of friends who’ve dealt with injury this year, including one of my best running friends. I’ve been reflecting a lot on injury, and how best to survive (mentally and physically) during the injury, and how to return from injury. I wanted to post about some of my lessons and thoughts. So everyone else is all like, here’s my race report from last weekend, and here I am, crap, I still haven’t finished my Boston race report!?!! It’s been half written for weeks, so here goes! I’m not going to do my typical race report with splits, and details like that. I had no real pace/time goals, so the splits don’t matter.
Hey, so now that I’m running again, I thought I’d do an update on how I’ve been training over the last couple months. We’ve run an ultra, a trail marathon, and countless training runs all over this general area. Sometimes you feel like you’re getting stronger, but you don’t really believe it until you have some solid evidence.
I get lots of questions about my training, so I thought I’d summarize my training over the last few months, and reflect back on what I did, why, and what I might do differently. I feel like it would be a good exercise in growth for me too, so here goes. Continue reading “Calgary Marathon Training”
Spoiler alert: April did not go as planned. For a while, I was definitely in a “I don’t want to talk about it” place. Now that things are improving and I seem to be on the other side, I will talk about it, and try to learn and move forward. If it weren’t for the challenges in life, we wouldn’t learn and grow our wisdom, right? Continue reading ““Training” Update for April”
